Retail Rant

How far are "we" from that hundredth monkey?
Before the collective states categorically - Enough!
"New and improved" be damned
"Never have there been such technological advances...."
(In such a short time) - rave the talking heads
Consider, never has there been, so much developed
That was empty and meaningless
How is an insatiable appetite
Created for something, with predetermined obsolescence?
Will it be allowed to assume
That there will always be masses waiting to consume?
If a prototype lacks in any redeeming value
How many spin-off versions of useless, will be tolerated?
Extend the warranty.....
How about extend the quality?
More to repair
Than to replace
You're going to want to replace it right?
They've come down in price
Loaded with new features
Will any one of those, extend it's longevity?
No but you can extend the .....
Is this crown jewel of collective achievement?
To a hammer
Everything looks like a nail
In a consumer society/economy
You're either a consumer, or?
"Sir can I please have more....?"
Want is apparently infinitely expandable
What is the projected outcome
Of continuing to cue
In the consumer circle of shite?
Mass graves for redundant consumables
Child labour
Material half lives outlive their owner
And certainly any manufacturers liability
War declared on humanity
To secure the access
To continued raw materials
Won't anyone offer
An extended warranty on human life?
Is life just a consumable
On the ledger sheet of ever-increasing returns?
Is there actually any end to "limited editions?"
Shop until ya drop?
Marketing euphemism
Or
Humanities Epitaph?
