Life at the Beach

While tides recede – broad is the beach
Yields many tide pools within reach
Each teems with life when observed – could teach
A reverence missed by some who preach

Humans believe we grace top shelves
A more mindful view each of themselves
A closer look – reveals a link
All life forms joined more than we think.

There is no them & us – you see
Next door or far from home – just we
Whether here or there same hours in a day
All humans are molded from the same mound of clay

The web of life is so easily torn
From Mother Earth signs that are meant to warn
Of what’s been done there’s no further use to mourn
A shift in our thinking – Eden reborn

All life forms are – links in the chain
Harm done to one – brings all others pain
The planet’s home to us but not our sole domain
Life mother to babe – our lives it does sustain

The interdependence of life we should respect
The balance above all else protect
Our relationship to the planet – we should correct
Continued unchecked consumption – at once reject

The planet needs a hero to step up to the plate
The time is now to end all debate
We are the authors of – our own fate
Will we bring on demise or co-create?
