Wake Up Call

When will we wake, at last to see?
We are not different you and me
Though language varies and hue of skin
Our views may differ some call that sin

Why not concede it’s all just spin
When battles rage no one will win
Instead of following dogmatic orders
Be led by spirit – erase the borders

Variety adds spice some say,
Not everyone yet feels that way
Peace could prevail we have a choice
The many could join – sing with one voice

Imagine love all cross the lands,
No pounding fists – just holding hands
We’d see the end of the arms race
Arms saved for hugging in its place

This can’t be done I hear you say
Through out time it’s always been one way
No doubt of course this has been so
We must decide to let war go

The old boys shout defend our ground
An end to enemies cannot be found
When leaders say on this I’m tough
We must reply that’s quite enough

A new approach there has to be
For lasting peace – it’s clear to see
The status quo – insanity
The answer starts with you and me

Look in the mirror you be the judge
Does the reflection there still hold a grudge?
Once you forgive it’ll set you free
The world will heal then by degree
